This is how it looked underneath.
The plate was only secured by two threaded rods, one 8mm
and one 10mm.
On top of that the one to the left in the picture was
cracked since many years.
It explained why we couldn't tension the baby stay, when we
tried that while still in the water.
The diamante stay for the cutter, fastened
to the mast above the baby stay, have probably saved the rig from
inverting under pressure.
